3 Skill Sets You Need to Start Your Coaching Business

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]

We are all aware of the fact that being an Entrepreneur, as opposed to a Cheif Executive Officer, or a Coach, takes very different skill sets.

[dt_gap height=”10″ /]

The Entrepreneur would need to be a creative and innovative person with the ability to sell products and services.

The Cheif Executive Officer (CEO) needs to have organizational development skills and be able to implement the company’s mission, vision, and philosophy.

The Coach needs to know the best practices for goal setting and the psychology behind human behavior. [dt_gap height=”10″ /][dt_gap height=”10″ /]

So, when a Life or Business Coach decides to start their own practice they usually learn the hard way that they need a good understanding of each of those skill sets. They usually lose out on time and money, personally and professionally. They find it hard to switch gears at any moment to meet their prospects needs and wants. They eventually realize that it will take a time to learn to shift to and from each area of expertise. You don’t have to be great at all of them, but you should get to a place where you are good enough.

Entrepreneurs should ALWAYS be coming up with creative ideas to sell their products or services. They should utilize social media because it is free marketing. They should be researching competitors and finding experts in other industries that compliment their work.

CEO’s should consistently revisit their company’s business plan. They should put operations and procedures into practice that align with the company’s mission and vision. Business plans should be updated often to fit the company’s growth and profits. They will also need to development as leaders on a consistent basis.

Coaches should coach individuals or groups consistently. They should make themselves of service in the community and to their clients. They are not consultants, so they should provide a safe environment for their clients to explore the client’s true desires and create action plans to support their goals. The direction of the individual’s goals should always stem from the client.
