Intimacy with God

My journey to seek God and tap into spiritual abundance started in August of 2017. At the time, I made the decision to seek the Lord Jesus more than ever before. I decided I would be dedicated to growing more in my Christian walk. I begin by scheduling an hour of time in my calendar of what I called “Lunch with Jesus.” This would act as a reminder every day to stop working no matter what I was doing and go to my secret place to be with God to be in His presence.

That summer was beautiful. I would make it a point to go out into nature daily. Like many spiritual or creative people I love to marvel at nature’s beauty. To me it is a testament to how God is The Creator and how marvelous His work truly is. I can’t really take credit for the idea to go out into nature and spend time with God. I actually heard a woman speak at a mastermind event I was attending one day about spending time in nature to hear from God. I remember she said it was powerful and would bring many revelations. I wanted to know and experience God more and in a new way. I was seeking to find the supernatural God that would walk with me and talk with me.

So I began to try out near locations around my neighborhood. In the apartments where my husband and I live there are beautiful ponds and we live next to a park. I soon would visit the pond right across the parking lot from where I lived quite frequently. I didn’t choose the pond because it was the most beautiful or the biggest, it’s actually the smallest and it’s actually closer to the parking lot than the other ponds. But for some reason it was the one where I could feel the presence of God. So I made the commitment to meet God there and just focus on the Word.

I even took my husband a couple of times but he didn’t get the same pleasure I did from the secret place. That’s okay because God relates to us all differently. That was a lesson I had to learn when it comes to God He loves our uniqueness and wants us to embrace our differences. He also knows us all intimately. He knows what really makes us angry and what blesses our hearts. He knows what we want and what we need. The beautiful thing about Him already knowing who we are is that we don’t have to pretend with Him.

Let me get back to my story, I began visiting the pond every chance I got. My husband would even ask me “Where are you going, baby? Are you going to your pond again?” Somehow this pond became mine and the Lords secret place to spend time together. I received so many revelations and so much understanding of God’s ways that I am in the process of writing several books. I learned about who God is and what He wants for His people. I learned how much He truly loves us all.

When I went to me and Jesus’s secret place I would sit quietly with my notebook and I would watch the movement of life at the pond. I would sit and listen to the waterfall. Sometimes I would read scripture and write but most of the time I would just listen. I would listen while I watched the water lilies move back a forth on the top of the pond. The water lilies were so beautiful to me. Some of them were white, but my favorite ones were pink. I’ve never been a big fan of the color pink, but pink water lilies are just gorgeous. I would capture their beauty by taking Instagram stories and pictures. Here are some of my favorite Instagram posts below.

I know some of you are reading this and saying “How did you not get distracted by everything in life?” The truth is I had to make myself sit still, get off of social media, and I wouldn’t answer phone calls. I would turn my phone where the screen was down so I wouldn’t check my phone. I had to discipline myself to not be in a rush but to actually sit and wait for God’s presence. Funny thing is I had times where I would get up and sit back down because the Holy Spirit would prompt me to sit back down and be still.

I want to end this blog with a testimony that demonstrates that when you bless God by dedicating your time to Him, He will bless you publicly. Now I know I have some skeptics reading this so I want to address the question, “How do you know you were talking to God?” To be honest, I had my own doubts and I was hopeful I wasn’t just doing something silly. Then God showed me in a bold way that He was indeed with me and He acknowledged the time we spend together very powerfully. How did He do that? I know you’re waiting with anticipation. Let me be sure to mention that time with God became nonnegotiable and apart of my lifestyle.

So several months later I was coaching this Artist who dreamed of starting her own art business. *Side note: I have no doubt that the Lord sends me all my clients, even nonbelievers. I helped this women get her business off the ground, shift her mindset from scarcity to abundance, and I also did it by sharing the gospel with her. She is a woman of God so it was appropriate and it helped her develop in the personal development concepts I was teaching her. Coaching her was honestly such a pleasure because I actually was able to speak my truth about how much I love Jesus. So when our coaching came to an end she told me she wanted to draw something for me to put up in my office. I am, at heart, a creative person so I love art and self-expression. I told her I would really enjoy whatever God gives her to draw. I encouraged her to be led by the Holy Spirit.

The is the drawing God led her to draw.

She brings me this portrait of me and it had my mouth and a flower. My mouth was in it, she explained because I speak life, which revives my clients from a state of stagnation. She said that the flower being half in color and half gray illustrated my clients being brought back to their original state and purpose. So this testimony to say the least is amazing and the work we accomplished together was incredible. I remember laughing for joy because apart of my face was in a drawling and I just admire what the Lord told her to draw. I told her thank you and we said our goodbyes.

Let me tell you, she knew nothing about the water lilies at the pond. So she literally got that from the Holy Spirit. Another amazing thing about this is I was praying to the Lord the day before she brought me this drawing and I told God I missed our time together at the pond and I missed the water lilies. That same week she brought me this picture. I know it was God’s gift to me so I would always be able to see the flower and remember our time together. THAT IS GOD. He loves us all so much that He will send you beautiful reminders of how precious you are to Him. Man when I took that drawling home I cried like a baby!!! I could actually feel how much He loves me and it humbled me. He loves you too, more than you could ever imagine. Ask Him into your life to be your Lord and Savior, repent of your sins, and ask Him to make you like new. You will never regret it.

Scriptures aligned to this blog post:

  1. Jeremiah 29:13 “Seek me and your will find me, if you seek me with all your heart.”

  2. Matt 6:4 ” That your charitable deed is done in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.”

  3. 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by site.”

That is the end of my story about my secret place with Jesus, but I want to be sure to answer two questions and I have created a poster for you to support you in building your own intimate relationship with The Heavenly Father. God bless you and keep you.

 Q/A:

  1. How do I know the Lord speaking to me?

  • The Lord will not say anything contrary to the Bible. You will find the scripture to accompany the word you received. God’s Word is the beginning and the end so we should always start and end there. John 1:1 “In the beginning there was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”.

2. What is the Holy Spirit?

  • The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Jesus that was left for believers to receive guidance and comfort and much more.

John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
